King Fahad Industrial Port in Jubail

Port Specifications
  • 27° 01’ N = 49° 40’ E. British Admiralty charts 3718, 3788.
  • Operations run 24 hrs/day 365 days/year.
  • The approach channels to the Port are covered by radar and can be contacted on “INDUSTRIAL MARINE” V.H.F channel 16- 67.
  • Boarding ground is 27° 07’ N = 49° 47' E
  • Pilotage is compulsory for vessels over 150 GRT.
  • Towage available with Voith Schneider Propulsion tugs.
  • L.P.G. carriers are allowed only daylight loading movements.
  • Fresh water available on all operational berths.
  • Bunkers available by appointed.
  • All vessels must have copy of G.C.C. Rules & Regulations for Seaports


Vessel Capacity
  • Solid bulk vessels: 6,000-110,000 DWT;
  • Petrochemical vessels: 5,000-45,000 DWT;
  • Refined product vessels: 12,000-360,000 DWT;
  • L.P.G. vessels: 1,000-30,000 DWT

Berthing Information

The Port has a total of 27 berths:
  • 5 berths for shallow draft vessels and port crafts;
  • 3 berths with 30-meter draft capable of accepting vessels up to 346 meters in length;
  • 19 berths as follows:
    • 1 Low Ramp module berth with 33-meter ramp width and 7.6-meter draft;
    • 1 High Ramp module berth with 33-meter ramp width and 7.6-meter draft;
    • 7 Bulk Solid berths 230-250 meters in length with draft between 12.6 and 13.3 meters high water;
    • 2 open berths 230-250 meters in length with draft between 12.6 and 13.3 meters high water;
    • 5 petrochemical, liquid bulk berths (3 are equipped with L.P.G facilities) 280 meters in length with draft
      between 14.4 and 15.2 meters high water;
    • 1 LPG berth 280 meters in length with draft between 14.4 and 15.2 meters high water;
    • 1 Refined Product berth 280 meters in length with draft between 14.4 and 15.2 meters high water;
    • 1 Open Sea Tanker Terminal berth for Refined Products with draft 25 m.

Port Handles
  • Solid Bulk Cargo
    • Chemical Fertilizers are exported mainly as bulk cargoes but facilities are also available for the handling of bagged fertilizers;
    • Iron Ore in pellet and lump form is imported over a dedicated berth then transported to the Iron and Steel Producing Plant via conveyor belt.
  • Liquid Bulk Cargo
    • 6 refined petroleum products are exported from two dedicated berths;
    • Facilities available for import of base lube oil products;
    • 18 petrochemical types are handled on five berths.
  • Liquid Petroleum Gas Products
    • Ethylene, Butadiene, Propylene and Vinyl Chloride Monomer are handled on one dedicated berth;
    • Facilities are also able of handling Butane at one of the petrochemical berths;
    • Two berths capable of handling Ammonia.
    • Marine Services The Port provides a complete range of marine services and utilizes the following equipment:2 ASD Type Tugs;
    • 5 VSP type Tugs;
    • 1 Floating Crane with 200,000-ton lifting capacity;
    • 2 Pollution Boats;
    • 1 Buoy Laying Vessel;
    • 3 Mooring Boats; and
    • 4 Pilot Boats.
